Photographing winter flowers in Hampton Court Palace

January 12, 2017

I'm passionate about photographing flowers.  The images here were photographed on an extremely cold and frosty day in December en route to ice skating at Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink.  Inspiration comes in many floral forms from the stunning Georgia O'keefe paintings (recently showing at the Tate Modern) and Johanna Neurath's images of  the Columbia Road flower market to Isabel Bannerman's beautiful flower photography.   It's a joy to follow the artistic floral creations of Flora Starkey and Fjuri and I look forward to more flower photography practise this year starting with The Kew Gardens Orchid Festival.

Later as springtime comes to England I look forward to nature's colours and scents around our green spaces in England. Come and visit The Royal Horticultural site for information on flower shows around England including The Chelsea Flower Show in London.

  1. Hi Jilly
Discovered you blog while searching for blogs on Aix! Great writing. Now looking at these amazing floral photos, they have captivated me. What camera do you use? Good luck with all your adventures!

    • Hello there Marg. Thank you for engaging with my website. I hope to post plenty more photographs. On this occasion I used a Nikon 750 with a 50mm prime lens taken on F1.8. Hope that helps!
